Gorillaz in India 2027: Bengaluru, Mumbai and Guwahati compared
Gorillaz have never played India. In January 2027 they play it three times in nine days: Bengaluru on Saturday 23 January, Mumbai on Wednesday 27 January and Guwahati on Sunday 31 January, all on sale through District, the tour's producer and exclusive ticketing partner. The three shows compared honestly: the venues, the starting prices District lists, the clash with Lollapalooza, the city each show rewards, and the stay and day out that complete each trip.
Some tours are announced. This one was wished into existence over about twenty five years. Gorillaz, the virtual band Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett built around four cartoon members, 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs, have toured the world behind songs like Feel Good Inc. and Clint Eastwood without ever playing India. That ends with The Mountain Tour, named for their ninth studio album, The Mountain, an album District's own event pages note is full of Indian collaborators, several of whom are promised as special guests at these shows. Three dates, three very different cities, nine days. This is the single artist companion to our India concert and music festival guide for 2027, which maps the whole season; here we do one band properly, city by city, from the official ticketing pages themselves. Event page, Bengaluru · Event page, Mumbai · Event page, Guwahati

The three dates, as District lists them
All three shows are produced and exclusively ticketed by District, and all three were live on District's own event pages when we checked on 5 November 2026. Tickets are official channel only: buy in the District app or on district.in, and treat any resale offer with the suspicion it deserves. District's pages are consistent on the shape of the night: gates from 4pm, a mostly standing show, no re-entry, no city shifts, meaning a Bengaluru ticket cannot be moved to Mumbai, and up to ten tickets per transaction.
Bengaluru, Saturday 23 January 2027, District Arena at Terraform, Yelahanka. General Access from 5,000 rupees on the current phase, with premium tiers above it. Mumbai, Wednesday 27 January 2027, Jio World Garden, Bandra Kurla Complex. From 6,000 rupees. Guwahati, Sunday 31 January 2027, Sarusajai Stadium, the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium. Early Bird General Access from 2,500 rupees, the cheapest door of the three by a wide margin. Prices move by phase and tier, so the figures here are the starting points District listed on 5 November, not a promise about the tier you want.
One round 1 correction worth making in the open: our season guide carried the Mumbai date as expected, sourced to press reports, because its ticketing page had not opened when that guide was drafted. It has now. All three dates stand on the same footing, confirmed on the ticketing partner's own pages.
Bengaluru: the debut, and the clash
The first Gorillaz show on Indian soil is the obvious pilgrimage, and it comes with the season's hardest choice attached. The same Saturday, 23 January, is the opening day of Lollapalooza India in Mumbai. You cannot do both, and this guide will not pretend a flight fixes it; the Bengaluru show is a full evening in Yelahanka, in the city's far north. Choose the debut if the band is the point. Choose it also if you are already in the south: Terraform's arena is a purpose built outdoor ground, the crowd will be the one that waited longest, and Bengaluru in late January is the kindest concert weather in the country.
The catch is geography. Yelahanka is not central Bengaluru, the show is standing and outdoors, and District lists no parking for ordinary ticket holders, so plan the ride home before you plan the encore. Stay in the city and travel out early, or stay north and travel in for your sightseeing. Gates open at 4pm, two hours before the show, and the sensible Bengaluru plan treats that as part of the event rather than dead time: arrive with the daylight, eat at the venue, find your ground, and watch a crowd realise, somewhere in the first song, that this is actually happening in their city. First shows have a noise that second and third shows, however good, cannot copy. The sightseeing itself deserves a day: the full day city tour, palace, temples, gardens and markets with a guide, is the right pace for the Sunday after, when nobody is in a hurry.

Mumbai: the midweek garden show
Mumbai gets the middle date, Wednesday 27 January, and a different kind of venue: Jio World Garden is an open air garden space inside the Bandra Kurla Complex, the city's glass office district, which makes this the most urban of the three shows and the easiest to fold into a working week or a city break. It is also, at 6,000 rupees from, the most expensive starting ticket of the run, which is the Mumbai tax in its purest form. What the money buys is convenience: central hotels, an airport that connects everywhere, and a city that treats a Wednesday night show as a warm up rather than an event.
Mumbai also forgives late planning better than the other two. Arrive on the Tuesday, eat your way through the evening on the street food and night markets tour that runs through the bazaar lanes, and keep show day itself clear and rested. If you are choosing purely on the total trip, flights plus hotel plus ticket, Mumbai is rarely the cheapest and often the simplest, and for a midweek one night dash, simple wins.

Guwahati: the statement date
The third show is the one that says the most about where Indian touring has got to. Guwahati was added after the first two cities, announced by District in association with Assam Tourism, and it closes the run on Sunday 31 January at Sarusajai Stadium, a full stadium show in the Northeast at the lowest starting price of the three, 2,500 rupees for Early Bird General Access. For fans in the Northeast it removes a flight to Delhi or Mumbai from the cost of seeing a band of this size, which has been the region's tax on live music for decades. For everyone else, it is the excuse for the trip you had not made: Guwahati is the Brahmaputra city, the gateway to Assam, and the show gives a weekend there a centre.
Give it the extra day. The Kamakhya Temple, on Nilachal Hill above the city, is one of the most important Shakti shrines in India, and the heritage walking tour of the temple and the hill is a two hour morning that puts the whole city in context before the stadium takes the night. Note also the calendar collision at the other end of the country: Foo Fighters play Mumbai the same Sunday, 31 January. The season guide has that weekend in full; the Gorillaz faithful will not be torn, but the generalists will.

So, which city?
On ticket price alone, Guwahati, and it is not close. On history, Bengaluru: there will only ever be one first Gorillaz show in India, and it is this one. On ease, Mumbai, the midweek garden show in the best connected city in the country. On the trip itself, the honest answer is Guwahati again, because it is the only one of the three that takes you somewhere most concertgoers have never been, at the lowest price, in a stadium, on a Sunday. Whichever you choose, buy through District only, set an India What's On alert for the show in case phases, tiers or timings move, and book the stay once the ticket is in your account, not before. Twenty five years was long enough to wait. Do not add a sold out hotel to it.
