India's concert and music festival guide 2027: Lollapalooza, two stadium debuts and the tours that follow

January 2027 is the most stacked month Indian live music has had: Lollapalooza India's fifth edition and Gorillaz's first India show fall on the same Saturday, Foo Fighters make their India debut the following weekend, and Arijit Singh's nine city stadium tour rolls out behind them. The year in concerts and festivals, weekend by weekend, with confirmed dates labelled confirmed and the rest honestly marked, plus where to stay and what to book around each show.

Something has shifted in Indian live music, and January 2027 is where you can see it on one page. The country's biggest festival plays its fifth edition in Mumbai on the same Saturday that one of the biggest animated bands on earth plays its first ever Indian show in Bengaluru. A week later, one of the last great stadium rock bands makes its own India debut, twice. Behind them, the biggest playback singer of the generation is rolling a nine city stadium tour, and the classical calendar is running its winter season as it has for decades, entirely unbothered. This guide takes the concert and festival year in the order it happens, marks clearly which dates are confirmed and which are still expected, and pairs each big weekend with the stay and the day out that complete it. Our festival calendar for 2027 covers the traditional festival year region by region; this is its modern twin, the year in stages.

First, the classical winter: Pune and Kolkata

The year opens at the serious end. The Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Festival, Pune's great Hindustani and Carnatic gathering, moves house and month for its 72nd edition: Wednesday 13 to Sunday 17 January 2027 at Fergusson College ground in Shivajinagar, a shift the organising Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal announced in October because its usual December ground is taken by the Pune Book Festival. Five days of morning and evening sessions from the classical world's senior artists is the most concentrated listening in the Indian year, and the Fergusson College move puts it in the student quarter, with the old city's food streets around it. Kolkata answers a week later with the Dover Lane Music Conference, expected from Friday 22 to Monday 25 January at Nazrul Mancha on Southern Avenue, its sessions running through the nights and into the early hours in the city's great winter tradition. Dover Lane's 2027 dates follow the conference's established pattern and had not been published on its official site when we checked, so treat them as expected until the programme lands. Between the two, on the coast, Goa Sunsplash runs Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 January at Thalassa Beach Boutique Resort in Ashvem: two days of reggae and sound system culture on a north Goa beach, the loosest possible warm up for the weekend that follows. Pair the Sunsplash days with the old city, an hour south: the Fontainhas heritage walk through Panjim's Latin Quarter is the calm before the bass.

The clash: Saturday 23 January

Every big music year has a weekend that splits the audience, and 2027's arrives early.

Lollapalooza India, Mumbai, Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 January. The fifth edition returns to Mahalaxmi Race Course with four stages and more than forty acts across the two days. The top of the announced lineup is a study in range: Olivia Dean and Limp Bizkit headline, with KATSEYE, 5 Seconds of Summer, Fontaines D.C. and St. Vincent among the international names, and Indian artists woven through the bill rather than parked at its edges. Gates run from mid afternoon, the racecourse sits in the middle of the city with Mahalaxmi station a short walk away, and the two day pass is the natural unit; single day loyalties get tested the moment the day splits are read. Tickets sell only through BookMyShow, the festival's official ticketing partner, and the festival's own advice, which we repeat gladly, is to ignore third party sellers entirely. Event page

Gorillaz, Bengaluru, Saturday 23 January. The same evening, at District Arena at Terraform in Yelahanka, Gorillaz open their first ever India run. Damon Albarn's virtual band made real has never played the country; the Bengaluru date is the first of three. If your loyalty is to the festival, Mumbai wins the weekend. If it is to the once only debut, it does not. There is no wrong answer, only an expensive one if you try to do both.

Mumbai repays arriving a day early. Friday is for the city at eating pace: the street food and night markets tour that runs from Churchgate through Chowpatty and the bazaar lanes is built for the night before a festival, and Saturday morning belongs on the water, out to the Elephanta Caves and back before the gates open. Both are the kind of booking that turns a festival trip into a city trip.

The debut week: Gorillaz again, then Foo Fighters

The last week of January belongs to first times. Gorillaz play Mumbai at Jio World Garden on Wednesday 27 January; that date is reported by the entertainment press and carried on our listing as expected until the ticketing page opens, so confirm before you build travel around it. Their third India date closes the run at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday 31 January, a booking that says a great deal about where Indian touring now reaches.

Foo Fighters need no such caution. Their first ever India shows are on sale through BookMyShow: Bengaluru LIVE on Friday 29 January, with The Pretty Reckless among the support acts, and Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai on Sunday 31 January. A band of this size arriving for the first time, in two cities in three days, is the kind of weekend that sells its hotels out around it. Bengaluru's show pairs naturally with a city day: the full day Bengaluru city tour, palace, temples and markets with a guide, is the right speed for the Saturday between the Gorillaz and Foo Fighters weekends if you are doing the southern double. The stadium tours that roll on: Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal

Behind the festival weekends, 2027's other story is scale. Arijit Singh's nine city stadium tour opens at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday 9 January, a date still marked expected on our listing, and firms up as it rolls: Mumbai at Mahalaxmi Race Course on Saturday 20 February is listed by thumpN, the tour's exclusive ticketing partner, and Bengaluru follows at NICE Grounds on Saturday 13 March, with Jaipur, Delhi, Indore and Hyderabad dates in the run. Shreya Ghoshal's Unstoppable India Tour runs its own national circuit in parallel, including Delhi on 14 February and Mumbai on 27 March. The practical point for both: these shows sell through their official partners only, the big city dates move fast, and the venue announcements have a habit of arriving after the date announcements. Our listings track each stop as its ticketing page opens.

Later in the year, and the honest gaps

Autumn's confirmed shape is thinner, and this guide would rather say so. The Ziro Festival of Music in Arunachal Pradesh's Ziro Valley is expected from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 September, following its established late September pattern, and remains the most beautiful journey in Indian music: four days of independent acts in rice country, reached slowly and remembered for years. Beyond that, the honest position at the time of writing is that several famous names in Indian festival life, among them NH7 Weekender in Pune and Sunburn's next festival edition after its December 2026 Mumbai weekend, had not published confirmed 2027 dates when this guide was drafted on 5 November 2026. When they do, they will land on our music listings first. Set an India What's On alert on the acts and festivals you are watching and the confirmations will come to you, which, in a year when the biggest weekend is a clash, is the closest thing to being in two places at once.
