The classic Varanasi hour: a rowing boat out before dawn from the ghats, pilgrims bathing and praying as the sun rises over the far bank, the cremation ghats and temples sliding past in silence.
How to book: Booked as an early tour on Klook, usually with hotel pickup and the Ganga Aarti; private boats can also be arranged at the ghats the evening before. The evening aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat is the same city's other anchor.
